A low cost way to gather information from local businesses would be through a survey that utilizes Likert-style questions. Likert-style questions give a quantifiable answer that makes analyzing data easier. To incentivize the company to participate in the survey, you could say that taking the survey enters them into a raffle or gets them a discount. Surveys costs next to nothing since anyone can create one with a free Google account and email them to companies with no cost.
