Interview Questions
Robyn AI
Data Analyst Intern

What excites you about this internship at Robyn AI?
Before becoming an Informatics major, I was a Psychology major. I always loved analyzing the human mind. Seeing how different kinds of people think, process situations, and what aspects they prioritize more cognitively was what drew me to Psychology. When I discovered the Human-Centered Data Science track that was part of my major, I realized it was the perfect intersection between my passion for humans and technology.
These are some of the reasons I am excited about the opportunity to intern at Robyn AI. Their mission of creating emotionally intelligent AI that connects with users at a high level aligns well with my background. I am not only passionate about using data to gather actionable insights, but I most importantly want to use data to understand user behavior and contribute to an app that feels personalized just for the user.
With a foundation in both Psychology and Data Science, I hope my time at Robyn AI further helps their mission regarding bridging the gap between humans and technology. This opportunity is more than just a résumé builder—it presents itself as an opportunity to apply what I love in a hands-on setting and contribute to the development of user-centered AI.

What are 2 consumer apps you love and why do you think they’ve gone viral or built strong user habits?
One thing I've always wondered is why certain apps have an "addicting" feeling to them. When you want to put your phone down, you can't because the app sucks you in. But what makes an app addicting? In my opinion, the most "addicting" apps are the ones that put the user and their interests at the forefront. TikTok is one of those apps that has that feeling. You don't know what you'll get with every scroll, whether it's a surprising, wholesome, or even shocking video. With the algorithm adjusting by the second---based on what videos you like, what profiles you spend the most time on, etc., TikTok has gone viral because it makes the user feel important, feel prioritized...feel seen. Another app I think has this "addicting" feeling is X. X is the funniest app to me because you'll see the most random tweets from people across all walks of life. Whether it be celebrities such as Nicki Minaj, micro-influencers across social media, or just a regular person, you get perspectives from people everywhere. Similarly to TikTok, X does a great job at prioritizing the users interests, as they adjust what posts you see on the For You tab based on what you like, repost, quote, or what profiles you often engage with. In general, TikTok and X are two consumer apps I love because they prioritize personalization. They don't just make you feel engaged---they make you feel like you belong.
