How would you help make someone feel welcome and comfortable on their first day in a new office?
To help someone feel welcome and comfortable on their first day in a new office, I would focus on making the environment approachable, structured, and supportive from the moment they stepped in the door. First, I’d make an effort to personally introduce myself and offer a warm welcome so they immediately feel acknowledged and included, and work on building a personal (but professional) relationship so they would know that they could come to me with any issues or concerns. I’d teach them how to navigate the office, give them tips, and also ease any uncertainties. I would do this by clearly explaining team expectations, communication styles, and workflows. Even small guidance, like how the team prefers to collaborate or where to find resources to help them feel more confident and prepared. I’d also make sure they feel socially included by inviting them to join lunches, encouraging coffee chats within or outside of the department, and by introducing them to colleagues they’ll work closely with. I would primarily focus on creating opportunities for connection early on to help build comfort and a sense of belonging.

Tell me about a time you noticed something wasn’t working well in a shared space or team environment. What did you do to fix it?
As a Marketing and Operations Intern at Saturn Technologies (now part of Snap Inc.), I noticed a recurring imbalance between the effort being put in by interns and the quality and timeliness of our deliverables. Recognizing that this was negatively impacting our work, I took the initiative to organize weekly intern-only check-ins to align our expectations, clarify deadlines, and develop strategies for the week ahead. These meetings created greater accountability and collaboration across the team, ensuring each intern contributed effectively. As a result, our workflow became more organized and the overall quality and consistency of our deliverables significantly improved.
