What strategies do you use to engage social media audiences?
Beyond the technical and structural elements of video creation, my strategies for engaging social media audiences focus on data-driven iteration, strategic audience targeting, and building long-term credibility.
To maintain engagement, I prioritize studying the watch time curve of every video. Since watch time is "king" for the algorithm, I analyze specific "drop-off" points such as a poorly placed product plug or a dip in energyto understand exactly where viewers lose interest. This allows me to refine future content to ensure the retention curve stays as flat as possible for the duration of the video.
While likes are a common metric, I focus on content that initiates comments and shares, as the algorithm prioritizes these actions for pushing content to wider audiences. By creating content that prompts viewers to tag friends or share their own opinions, the video gains significantly more organic reach than through likes alone.
I utilize both top and bottom funnel content to engage different segments of an audience.
I optimize engagement by selecting topics with the widest possible appeal. For instance, targeting a broad demographic like "all university students" generally yields higher engagement and views than targeting a specific, niche sub-group, such as "students in one specific city". Understanding the scale of the potential audience informs how I frame the subject matter.
Instead of just "posting content," I engage the audience by documenting a journey. Sharing transparent milestones, such as a "road to a specific goal" or sharing actual earnings and results, creates a compelling narrative that viewers want to follow over time. This personal brand approach transforms passive viewers into a loyal community.

How would you make a video that stands out on TikTok?
To make a video that stands out on TikTok, I would implement a strategy focused on authenticity, technical fundamentals, high-impact hooks, and psychological engagement to ensure the content stops the scroll within the first 2 seconds and maintains high retention.
My technical fundamentals include:
I would face a window to utilize natural light as the primary lighting setup. My eyes would be centered above the midline of the screen to ensure proper framing. The background must reinforce the video's message to build immediate trust. For example, for a company like Airlearn, I would create videos targeting students filmed in a setting that resembles a library or office. I would follow the platform's "golden" layout: a text hook at the top, the subject in the middle, and captions at the bottom.
On the hook:
Because the first two seconds determine if a viewer stays, I would create a "curiosity gap" or use a shocking statement (e.g., "POV: you finally understand what your spanish teacher was saying") to stop the scroll. Standing out requires more than just words; I would use energetic intonations and specific facial expressions to match the "vibe" of successful organic content.
On authenticity:
I would prioritize a raw and authentic look over heavy production, as 80% of successful videos only require simple cuts and captions. I would use the classic font for captions, as viewers subconsciously associate it with high-quality, organic TikTok content. To maximize watch time, I would cut out all dead space or silence longer than 0.2 seconds.
On psychological triggers:
Examples: For list-style videos (e.g., "Top 3"), I would place the brand's Call to Action (CTA) or product demo immediately before the #1 reveal. This leverages the viewer's desire to see the final result to keep them watching through the ad.
I would design content to trigger emotional responses, such as extreme relatability or "rage baiting," because the algorithm prioritizes comments and shares over likes.
Rather than reinventing the wheel, I would study and remix formats that are already performing well in the brand's niche, adding a unique personality to proven structures.
