OpenRouter
Engineer Reddit amabassador for OpenRouter

What are the do's and Dont's of being a community ambassador for a software product/tool in Software development-Focused Subreddits?
The most important rule is that Reddit communities prioritize authenticity and usefulness over marketing. A good community ambassador should behave like a developer who is genuinely trying to help others solve problems. The “do’s” include contributing useful technical insights, answering questions thoughtfully, and participating in discussions even when your product is not directly relevant. When mentioning a tool like OpenRouter, it should always be in response to a real problem someone is trying to solve, and it should include helpful context such as how it works, why it might help, or links to documentation. Transparency is also important — being open that you’re familiar with or involved with the product builds trust. The “don’ts” are mainly about avoiding obvious promotion. Spamming links, forcing product mentions into unrelated conversations, or posting repetitive marketing-style comments will quickly get downvoted and harm credibility. Another mistake is ignoring community norms; each subreddit has its own expectations and rules, and respecting those is essential. The goal is always to be a helpful member of the community first, and an advocate for the product second.

Can you commit to posting videos EVERY WEEK?
Yes. I’ve maintained consistent weekly and daily posting schedules across my personal TikTok account and multiple brand-dedicated ambassador accounts. I plan content in batches, stay ahead on drafts, and build buffers so posting remains consistent even during busy weeks. Posting weekly is already part of my routine, and I’m comfortable committing to it long-term while keeping quality high and deadlines tight.
