JOVA

Business Development Intern (Health Food Startup)

How do you usually keep track of tasks, follow-ups, or deadlines when things are moving fast?

When things are moving quickly, I use a combination of digital tools and prioritizing approaches to remain on top of projects. I often use Google Calendar or Notes/Reminders to keep track of deadlines, meetings, and follow-ups. At the beginning of each week, I make a to-do list, divide major jobs into smaller sections, and underline anything time-sensitive. I also make it a practice to review my list on a daily basis in order to update priorities when circumstances change. This technique helps me stay organized, fulfill deadlines, and keep communication clear especially while working on many projects simultaneously.

Tell us about a time you helped something run more smoothly, or solved a problem on your own.

In a recent group project for my business course, we were falling behind on our deadline because team communication was disorganized and tasks were overlapping. I took the initiative to create a shared Google Sheet to track everyone’s responsibilities, due dates, and progress. I also suggested we hold short weekly check-ins to stay aligned. Once we started using the tracker and communicating more consistently, we finished the project ahead of schedule and got positive feedback from our professor. This experience taught me the importance of structure and proactive communication—skills I know are essential in business development, especially when managing partnerships, timelines, or client relationships
