I believe that advocacy work is a crucial element of social change, as the positions of power, such as the government, are either unable to or refuse to change the status quo. As a sociology student, I am interested in the impact of human interactions on social culture. That is why I strive to align myself with organizations that support the growth of our society.

I had been working with two local coffeeshops, where the owners of each were good friends. One of them was younger (we will call him Owner A), and relied on the use of digital products such as the infamous app, Homebase, to keep his employee's schedule and pay tidy. On the other hand, the owner of the other coffeeshop (we will call him Owner B) had little experience with technology and preferred to use paper sign-in sheets and cheques. Owner A complained to me as he felt that the use of cheques and paper sign-in was inefficient and messy, although Owner B would never listen to him and switch to using Homebase. I decided to pitch the idea to Owner B, and Owner B finally considered switching to Homebase. All witnesses of this pitch had told me that they had never seen anyone sell something so well!

I currently work for a start-up e-commerce company, where I've become the right-hand-(wo)man of the CEO! I've completed tasks such as marketing, tidying the work environment, responding to emails and inquiries along with other administrative tasks. The growing popularity of e-commere makes it an exciting and promising industry to be a part of.
