This past Thursday, I turned my dream into a passion project. | Theodora Boateng
This past Thursday, I turned my dream into a passion project.
Since September, after my first Miss Colorado pageant, I have been looking for ways to make it a part of my undergraduate experience at DU and how to get more people inspired to try pageantry.
I got in contact with DU’s Black Student Alliance and at every meeting, I pitched the idea until they eventually recruited me for their e-board as secretary in January.
I managed to get 8 individuals to commit to what probably felt like the craziest tornado ever - they all had about 3 weeks or less to get their paperwork in, talents memorized, and wardrobe solidified.
But they prevailed.
Thank you to Amarri, Arely, Cemara, Kimberly, Nadia, Nana, Paola, and Mia for making the Miss Affinity DU happen and being the founding class.
Special thanks to Alexandra Lotko - Miss Colorado 2024, Jessi Kalambayi - Miss Colorado USA 2024, Trajan Rehder, and Jorge Espinoza M.A. for taking the time to judge!
Thank you to Luis Figueroa Chacon for managing all of our media needs!
And big, big thanks to my fellow e-board members for backing and supporting me with this project!!
4th Runner Up - Paola Garcia Barron
3rd and 2nd Runner-Up (tied) - Kimberly Guevara and Amarri Bishop
1st Runner Up - Namugga Nakayiza
Miss Affinity DU 2025 - Nadia Brooks
