Why do you think you'd be an asset to the drew house team?
As someone who's had a deep passion for styling and design of all types (graphic, interior, food, architecture, but most of all fashion) for my entire life, this Set Assistant role is a natural fit with who I am at my core. I have a particular eye and passion for design and aesthetic which carries over into every aspect of my life and truly guides the way I approach all that I do. I am also at my core, an incredibly organized person which I believe would manifest well into the tasks that Drew House is looking for assistance with through this role. Additionally, being someone who identifies as biracial and has grown up in predominantly white private school spaces (most of that time spent in a funky urban and rural Montessori school environment), I deeply value the importance of fostering communities of respect where anyone and everyone's unique selves can be celebrated. The community based narrative of Drew House resonates strongly with me. Furthermore, I would bring to Drew House prior background in fashion PR from my role with Poly Global Advisory as the showroom assistant this past spring. My time with them allowed me to further my organization and communication skills as well as made me comfortable working hands on with merchandise and working directly with stylists and models. Lastly, you will find that I am extremely diligent and organized with a strong work ethic, capable of envisioning the larger picture while understanding the nuanced details necessary to bring that picture to life, comfortable taking direction as well as leading initiatives, and that I am a naturally outgoing person who finds it easy to work with all kinds of personalities.

What roles do you think sports plays in consumer behavior and affinity?
One major facet in which the impact of sports on consumer behavior and affinity can be seen is in the fact that all of the current NBA teams have sponsorships on the jerseys. For several years now, the NBA has allowed both teams and players to deeply publicize sponsorships that they have with certain companies and I believe that is due to the high opportunity for revenue that comes with such publication. From the opposite perspective, one may wonder why the companies that enter into partnerships with these professional basketball teams are willing to pay a high price for a very small patch on player’s jerseys and I believe that is because they know that every impression they make on potential customers can generate a high level of revenue for them as well. Further, sports are one of the most popular events that continue to draw an incredibly high rate of viewership year after year, and in turn, companies are able to gain a high level of revenue when their products are constantly seen by consumers whether it be subliminally or not. Presently, the new media era of streaming has drastically changed the nature of advertising in that a culture of binge watching television from the comfort of one’s home and without the bother of advertisements, is incredibly easy with platform businesses such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, etc. If you look at recent Nielsen reports, however, it is evident that live sports are one of the only television events that continue to attract constant attention on cable TV and therefore constant viewing of advertisements. This is due to the consumer affinity that is deeply present between fans and the sports teams that they root for. There is an incredibly strong personal attachment between fans across the world and their chosen sports teams, in turn allowing advertisements of any sort, whether they be television ads or patches on a players jersey, to have a very high rate of exposure. Here in the United States, sports and sports figures are critical to the fabric of American culture and thus how consumers view given companies through their association with the sports teams and figures they choose to partner with.
What is a brand that could improve their social media presence and how would you recommend they improve it?
I would consider myself a foodie and one of my favorite restaurants is called Punch Pizza. Punch is a Neaopolitan pizza restaurant local to my hometown Minneapolis, Minnesota. There are various locations across Minneapolis and the surrounding suburbs, however, no other storefronts in any other state. Although Punch is a small town local business by nature, I believe that it could have a more beneficial social media presence with the help of someone experienced in the social media/advertising field. Punch has a deeply loyal and passionate customer base across Minnesota. In turn, I believe that through the use of social media, they would be able to go above and beyond with their fans, creating a very familial interconnected feeling amongst fans in regardings to the company. They could perhaps host giveaways or advertise sales on Instagram, encouraging their fans to be more interactive with them in both a digital and physical manner. I believe this would improve the brand overall by allowing them to lean into the new era of digital media and further improve the advertising transition of longstanding brands from more traditional to modern, digital, matters. Presently, the Instagram for Punch has a low number of followers, an even lower level of engagement, and content that comes off as outdated due to filters and captions placed on photos. With the help of a creative who possesses strong social media skills, Punch would have more security as a business as we continue to grow in society run more and more by technology everyday.
