Music Taste Tester (October)

How do you approach identifying potential issues with a product during testing?
When testing a product, I take a structured and proactive approach to uncover potential issues. First, I make sure I fully understand the product’s intended functionality, user expectations, and technical specifications. This helps me identify what 'success' looks like and where things might go wrong. Next, I develop comprehensive test cases that cover typical use scenarios, edge cases, and failure conditions. I prioritize both manual and automated testing depending on the context — for example, usability and visual bugs often need human intuition, while performance and regression tests benefit from automation. During testing, I pay close attention to unexpected behavior, inconsistencies, resource usage, and error messages. I document every issue with clear reproduction steps, screenshots or logs, and severity ratings to help the development team prioritize fixes. Finally, I retest after fixes to ensure the issue is resolved and hasn’t introduced new problems. I also perform regression testing to confirm that existing functionality remains stable. This iterative process helps ensure the product is reliable, user-friendly, and ready for release.
