How do you hook viewers in the first 3 seconds of a retail video?

1. Lead with a relatable tension. (Not the product) The strongest hooks surface a problem or feeling the viewer already has.

2. Use pattern interrupt visuals. Visually disrupt the feed immediately.

3. Show the outcome first. Start with the result, then explain later.

4. Use bold, clear on-screen text. Assume videos are watched muted.

5. Create curiosity gaps. Say just enough to make them stay.

6. Speak directly to one person. Generic hooks fail. Specific hooks stop scroll. Instead of: “Here’s a new product I love” Try: “If your skin flakes under makeup in winter, this is for you.”

How would you create engaging retail content ?

To create engaging retail content, I focus on making the product feel desirable in real life, not just well-lit on a shelf. The content has to stop the scroll and help the viewer imagine the product in their own routine. Making the viewer feel some fomo is usually beneficial as well.
