Can you describe a time you successfully persuaded someone to try a new product or service?

One time I successfully persuaded someone to try a new product was while working in Apple sales. A customer came in looking for a replacement laptop, certain they only wanted a basic model because they didn’t think they needed any advanced features. Instead of jumping right into a sales pitch, I asked questions about how they used their current device—what kind of work they did, how often they traveled, and what frustrations they had with their old laptop. Through that conversation, I learned that they were a small business owner who often multitasked and ran design programs that actually required stronger performance. I introduced them to the MacBook Pro, explaining how the M-series chip could handle their workload more efficiently, save battery life during travel, and integrate seamlessly with other Apple devices. To make the transition easier, I showed them how Apple’s Business Team could help set up their devices and manage their business purchases long-term. By connecting the product’s benefits directly to their needs, I helped them see the value beyond the price. They ended up purchasing the MacBook Pro and later returned to thank me, saying it improved their workflow and made their job easier. That experience reinforced for me how listening first, understanding the customer’s perspective, and presenting personalized solutions can turn curiosity into genuine trust and successful persuasion.

How would you approach building relationships with new local vendors?

I would approach building relationships with new local vendors by focusing on genuine connection, clear communication, and mutual benefit—skills I’ve developed through my experience in Apple sales. Working at Apple taught me how to engage with customers and businesses by first understanding their needs, then connecting them with tailored solutions that provide real value. At Apple, I often directed customers to our Business Center, where we built long-term partnerships with local businesses by helping them find technology solutions that supported their goals. That experience showed me how effective it is to build trust through clear communication and personalized support. I’d apply the same approach as a World ambassador—starting by researching nearby businesses that students frequently visit or that could benefit from greater campus exposure. When reaching out, I’d introduce myself and explain how partnering with World could help them attract verified student customers at no cost, offering incentives like free drinks, meals, or services in exchange for increased visibility. Just as I learned to connect businesses with Apple’s resources, I’d focus on showing local vendors how joining World can expand their reach and strengthen their relationship with the student community. Beyond making initial connections, I’d maintain strong relationships by checking in regularly, gathering feedback, and helping them create new promotions that keep students engaged. My time at Apple taught me that successful partnerships rely on trust, consistency, and genuine collaboration—values I’d bring to every vendor relationship I build for World.

How would you find & reach out to influencers to get their shipping address?

To find and reach out to influencers for product seeding, start by identifying the right creators who align with SOMOS’s brand values. Use Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube to search relevant hashtags such as #MexicanFood, #EasyRecipes, and #LatinoEats. Platforms like Upfluence, AspireIQ, and Heepsy can also help find influencers with engaged audiences. Additionally, reviewing competitors’ collaborations can provide insight into who has successfully promoted similar products.

Once you’ve selected potential influencers, reach out professionally through direct messages or email. In a DM, keep it short and engaging, such as: "Hi [Name]! We love your content, especially your [specific post]. We think you’d love SOMOS—authentic, easy-to-make Mexican meals made in Mexico! We’d love to send you a PR package. Let us know if you’re interested, and we can coordinate shipping details!" If reaching out via email, personalize the message and include details about the brand, such as: "Hi [Name], we’re big fans of your content and love how you bring Mexican flavors to life! We make authentic, ready-to-use Mexican rice, beans, and sauces and would love to send you a PR package to try out. Let us know if you're interested, and we’ll arrange shipping!"

Once an influencer expresses interest, ask for their preferred mailing address and let them know when to expect the package. To streamline this process for multiple influencers, use a Google Form or Typeform to collect addresses efficiently. After the package is sent, follow up to confirm delivery and encourage them to tag SOMOS in their content. Engaging with their posts by commenting and sharing helps strengthen the relationship and increase brand visibility.
