Why do you think your perspective would connect with other students or people your age?

I think my perspective would connect with people my age because my college experience has honestly been filled with ups and downs, and represents reality, not just a perfect picture. When I entered school, I thought I would take the pre-med or engineering route. I spent the first two years taking STEM classes, and while I succeeded in them, I never felt truly passionate about pursuing that career. After my sophomore year, and having worked with the Detroit Pistons for two summers, I decided to switch my major to Sport Management, something I was truly interested in and excited about. It was really difficult to start a new path two years in, and feel behind, and feel that I was almost throwing away all the hard classes I took. But I made the decision for myself and it has been nothing short of great so far. I think my journey shows that as long as you stay true to yourself, and continue to work towards your goals, your college experience is whatever you make of it, and you can't let others define that for you.

How do you bring your own style into everyday life on campus or at work?

For one, I would say I do so with my actual style. I absolutely love thrifting, and this year especially, have brought a lot of different, street-style looks to campus. I think fashion can be a huge part of identity, and I love using it as a mode of expression. Additionally, I am extremely passionate about sports, and bring that love to playing intramurals, discussing sports with coworkers, and studying them in classes. All in all, I am just extremely authentic to who I am, both on campu and in my work. I work for the Detroit Pistons Youth Engagement Program in the summer, and working with kids really allows my personality to shine. When we do coach introductions, I break out my sunglasses and vintage jacket, and do a dance for all of the kids. I entertain them day by day through made up trivia, silly contests, and fun competitions that are all unique to my personality, but are things I can do to make an impact on those around me.

What’s your “9-to-5” right now? (This could mean your classes, job, sport, art, or anything that fills your daily grind.)

My 9-5 is definitely a packed one at the moment. I am currently a full-time student at the University of Michigan, double-majoring in Sport Management and Spanish. Everyday of the week, I start class by 8:30-9:00 a.m., and end by 2:30 p.m., usually heading directly to the gym after. I workout for about 1.5 hours a day, and then adhere to my other responsibilities. I would say my 9-5 goes far beyond "5". I typically have club meetings for the Sport Business clubs I am in at least twice a week, and have meetings for my social clubs once a week. Additionally, I work as a manager for the Women's Basketball Team, am a Building Supervisor at our Recreation Building, and have just begun a social media intern position in athletics. The grind simply does not stop, but that is what I love, and that is what I feel college should be all about. I absolutely love creating content in all of the in between. Staying busy is staying fulfilled.
