Interview Questions
Dear Diary Co.
Podcast Production Intern/Contractor

Tell me about a time you experimented with content creation or marketing—what worked, what didn’t, and what did you learn?
I once experimented with growing engagement for a small fitness podcast on Instagram and TikTok. I tested two types of content: short motivational clips from the podcast and behind-the-scenes workout videos featuring the hosts.
What worked: The short motivational clips performed exceptionally well on TikTok, especially when paired with trending sounds and hashtags. They gained thousands of views and brought new listeners to the podcast.
What didn’t work: The behind-the-scenes content had lower engagement because it didn’t align with what the audience expected. People were more interested in actionable fitness advice rather than casual footage.
What I learned: Audience behavior varies by platform, and content should be tailored accordingly. TikTok favors short, snappy, trend-based content, while Instagram requires a mix of value-driven posts and engagement tactics. This experience taught me the importance of A/B testing and adapting content based on audience preferences.
