Can you discuss a time when you successfully promoted a product in a retail environment?
During my internship at Metro PCS by T-Mobile, I was responsible for promoting in-store deals and limited-time promotions. This meant not only creating visually appealing posters for the store but also actively engaging with potential customers. I would go outside to invite people in, hand out flyers, and even place posters on nearby cars to increase foot traffic. What really worked was combining visual marketing with a personal, friendly approach. I’d highlight the exclusive offers like free phones with certain lines or discounted plans and explain how customers could benefit in a way that felt accessible and exciting, not salesy. I learned to read people’s energy quickly and adjust my approach, whether that meant keeping it casual or diving into details. That experience taught me how to promote a brand confidently and creatively which are skills I’d bring into this Sephora role. Whether it's a skincare product launch or a new in-store promo, I know how to grab attention, keep people engaged, and most importantly, make them feel like they’re getting something valuable.

How would you approach engaging customers in a retail store setting?
By being genuinely curious, personable, and focused on creating value. I’d start with a warm, approachable attitude, asking open-ended questions like “What’s your current skincare routine like?” or “Have you tried any Japanese or Korean skincare products before?” This helps me learn about their needs and tailor my recommendations accordingly. Because I already have a personal love for Korean skincare and some background knowledge from my own routine, I’d naturally be excited to share tips and explain ingredients or product benefits in an easy, enthusiastic way without being overwhelming. My goal would be to make customers feel seen, supported, and confident in their skincare choices. I’d also use storytelling (something I’ve done a lot as a content creator) to help the products feel relatable and exciting, like sharing how a product has worked for me or others with similar concerns. Ultimately, I want every interaction to feel like a mini skincare consult.
