The soccer team I play for was looking to gather a wider audience online to expand beyond just the local city/community so we started these walk-in shots of us players arriving on game day and even followed some trending posts like "boots only summer" and ended up getting a significant increase in non-local engagement on our social media platforms along with reposts from major accounts on soccer social media.

I think focusing on relatable experiences. In this case, the key audience are students and academics, which themselves are a diverse audience, but they also share traits like cramming for tests, last minute project work, etc. Finding the common ground is key.
