How do you incorporate creativity while following a script?
I treat the script as the structure: I lock the non‑negotiables (story point, intent, any exact wording), then I get creative everywhere else: timing, emphasis, body language, and pacing. I map the scene into beats (where the objective or energy shifts) and make those turns feel real, even if the lines stay the same. And before I go off-script at all, I align on what’s allowed, because how much freedom you have can depend on the director and continuity/editing needs.
