Can you give an example of a successful outreach strategy you have implemented in the past?
One successful outreach strategy I implemented was during my time with the Tamil Students Association (TSA), where I led sponsorship outreach for one of our major cultural events. I began by identifying local businesses and brands—especially those with cultural ties or a shared audience—that would genuinely benefit from connecting with our student community. Instead of sending mass emails, I created personalized proposals that highlighted what made our event special, the demographics we’d reach, and how we could offer value through brand placement, social media features, and on-site engagement. I also emphasized past successes, including engagement numbers and community turnout. This approach led to multiple successful partnerships, including a standout collaboration with a jewelry brand, which we then incorporated into a creative content campaign using our own TSA members as models. The personalized outreach, paired with a strong follow-through strategy, helped build lasting sponsor relationships that extended beyond just one event.

How would you approach building relationships with potential business partners?
I’d approach building relationships with potential business partners by focusing on genuine connection, mutual value, and clear communication. First, I’d research the brand to understand their goals, audience, and tone—so that any outreach feels tailored, not generic. Then, I’d reach out with a professional but friendly message that highlights what we can offer them, whether that’s brand exposure, access to a specific demographic, or creative collaboration. From there, I focus on building trust—keeping communication consistent, following up promptly, and delivering on any promises. For example, when I helped secure a jewelry company partnership for a TSA event, we didn’t just promote them—we creatively showcased their products in our content, helping them gain organic traction with our community. That kind of thoughtful execution builds long-term relationships, not just one-time sponsorships.
