In a given week, your responsibilities range from updating financial models, to scheduling with external partners, to tracking inventory movement, to prepping decks for a marketing meeting. How do you prioritize and execute when everything is urgent?

I would prioritize my tasks by focusing on the task and understanding the time it would require and where this task falls in each process. If a task is causing a major holdup in a certain process, I would focus on finishing that task first. I would also focus on how many people are depending on the task that needs to be finished.

Tell us about a time when maintaining accurate data was crucial to your role. How did you ensure the data stayed clean, up to date, and aligned across systems or teams?

As the President of Phi Chi Theta, a professional business fraternity at Indiana University, I identified inefficiencies in how our executive board tracked member engagement, communication, and internal operations. I started by creating an Excel database that tracked attendance, event participation, and point allocations across 50+ members. I implemented automated formulas to calculate scores based on weighted event types and built conditional formatting to flag low-engagement members. Then, I connected the Excel sheet to Power BI to build a live dashboard that visualized key performance indicators like average engagement by pledge class, event attendance trends, and member point rankings. To reduce manual work, I used Power Automate to schedule weekly emails with updated dashboards and score summaries to the executive board, while also syncing event data submitted via Microsoft Forms directly into the tracker.

Walk us through a time when you built or managed a complex spreadsheet system to track operational or financial data.

As a Client Lead at 180 Degrees Consulting, a non-profit student organization on campus, I helped a non-profit develop a $13 million covenant housing center. We were tasked by the on-profit to analyze student housing market and create an extensive excel spreadsheet that looked at over 15 housing centers and included metrics like price per swuare foot, occupancy rates, distance to campus, and ameneties offered. I created comparison tables, embedded lookup functions to standardize data, and used pivot tables to identify trends in pricing and availability across different housing tiers. To support financial feasibility, I layered in estimated construction costs, potential rental income scenarios, and breakeven analysis over a multi-year horizon. I also built data visualizations and sensitivity analyses to test how different occupancy and rent levels would impact the project’s financial sustainability. This spreadsheet model became a core deliverable to the client and was used in presentations to community stakeholders and potential investors. It helped clearly articulate the market gap and gave the client a solid foundation for advancing their funding proposal.
