What organizations are you part of on campus? + what is your role in the group?
I have been in the Society of Professional Hispanic Engineers for 3 years now. It is a national organization, my chapter at the University of Florida has over 600 active members. I have held multiple leadership positions with them. Currently I am the lead Internal director, I organize their events, socials, intramural sport teams, First Year programs, and SHPEtina (women in stem) program. I am also the lead yearbook director. I am in charge of taking pictures at every event throughout the academic year, designing the yearbook, working with our supplier to order the yearbooks, and deliver them to members at our annual yearbook signing event.
I am also a part of other organizations on my campus as a member: American Nuclear Society; Real World Engineering; Swamp Launch- NASA Rocketry Competition Team; Por Colombia.

Future of Work Research
How do Gen Z individuals want to work and think about their career?
-Currently the need for a remote and hybrid job is on the rise within the gen Z community. Since PTO is usually very little, remote jobs offer us the flexibility to move around and travel during our free time without having to sacrifice good pay. During my internship this past summer, the company made an initiative to get all employees back to 100% onsite. Because of this change, the company lost an impacting amount of it’s gen Z and late millenial employees.
-Diversity and Inclusion is a MUST. Gen Z’s look for companies/firms that strive for 50% female, 50% racially and ethically diverse offices. DEI programs are also important in helping create a welcoming environment (women org, young professionals, hispanic org, etc.).
