Imagine you’re having a bad mental health day—what kind of video would you make that still feels relatable?
If I were having a bad mental health day, I’d either make an inspirational video that reminds me and others of why we started, like reconnecting with our goals and bigger picture, or I’d create a relatable, value-driven video that shares simple steps to take when you feel that way. That way, the content feels authentic to my own experience but also genuinely helpful for others who might be going through the same thing.

When you scroll TikTok, what makes you stop and watch a video all the way through?
When I scroll TikTok, what makes me stop and watch a video all the way through is a strong opening hook that stimulates multiple senses at once. I’ve learned that the most effective hooks combine three elements: on-screen text, engaging audio, and a clear visual movement. This way, the viewer’s eyes, ears, and attention are all activated in the first few seconds, which keeps them from scrolling away. I’ve used this strategy in my own content and it has helped me create several viral videos.

If you were making a TikTok about feeling stuck or overwhelmed, what would your opening line be?
If I were making a TikTok about feeling stuck or overwhelmed, I’d start with a three-part hook to grab attention right away: text on screen, a relatable audio, and a visually engaging movement—this way the audience’s senses are stimulated at the same time, which keeps them watching. For example, I could open with: “Are you doomscrolling in bed right now while your assignments have been waiting for you all week?” while showing myself looking totally burnt out. As a college student, I know exactly how it feels to be overwhelmed, and I’ve created many viral videos using this strategy, so I’m confident it would resonate with people.
