Imagine you have a limited budget and resources to promote As I Am on campus. What innovative strategy or event would you propose to create maximum impact and engagement?

With limited resources I would collaborate with one of USC's clubs like BSA and, I propose hosting a "Natural Hair and Self-Confidence Workshop" featuring expert panels, hands-on demonstrations, DIY workshops, student testimonials, social media engagement, and free product samples. This comprehensive event will not only promote As I Am products but also educate and empower attendees on embracing natural beauty and self-confidence, aligning with the brand's mission while maximizing impact and engagement.

As I Am celebrates natural beauty and empowerment. How do your personal values align with our brand's mission, and how would you convey this alignment in your role as a Campus Ambassador?

My personal values strongly align with As I Am's mission of celebrating natural beauty and empowerment. I believe in the importance of embracing one's authentic self and promoting self-confidence, regardless of societal beauty standards. As a Campus Ambassador, I would convey this alignment by not only using As I Am products and sharing my positive experiences but also by organizing events and initiatives that empower students to embrace their natural beauty, fostering a sense of self-confidence and inclusivity on campus.

Describe a time when you encountered a diversity or inclusion challenge related to natural hair or beauty standards on campus. How did you address it, and what was the outcome?

During my time as President of the Black Student Association at my predominantly white high school, I encountered a diversity and inclusion challenge related to natural hair and beauty standards. Some students and even staff members were unaware of the cultural significance of natural hairstyles within the Black community and occasionally made insensitive comments or jokes. To address this issue, I organized an awareness campaign during Black History Month. We hosted a panel discussion with guest speakers who shared the history and importance of natural hair, along with personal stories of discrimination they had faced. We also conducted workshops on different natural haircare techniques and styles to educate students and staff. The outcome was quite positive. Many students who had previously been uninformed about these issues became more aware and empathetic. They started to appreciate the beauty and significance of natural hair and expressed a desire to learn more about diverse cultural experiences. We also saw a reduction in insensitive comments and jokes related to natural hair, creating a more inclusive and respectful campus environment.
