As a Los Angeles native, I have always been surrounded by a creative environment. Throughout my time in college so far, I have had opportunities to apply my creativity both in and out of the classroom. I am currently a third year at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management and Human Resources and a minor in Marketing Management. In hopes of connecting these two fields of study, I aspire to become a Marketing Manager or a Project Manager for a PR/Marketing Agency. Within my curriculum, I am challenged to think outside the box whether that is brainstorming new ways to foster inclusivity within the workplace or developing a social media campaign for a new product. I currently serve as the Vice President of Public Relations for Kappa Delta Sorority. Creativity plays a big role within my position in producing a captivating social media presence, as well as hosting events that build confidence in women. I also have a passion for helping others, and through my positions as a Peer Mentor and Orientation Leader, I am actively formulating different ways to get freshmen and transfer students acclimated to campus life through a virtual setting. What strategies do you employ to grow an organization's social media following and increase engagement with the audience?

The first strategy I use to grow a following is the utilization of location and hashtags. These two aspects allow media to reach specific audiences. The second strategy I use is paid ads/media. I like to encourage my company to allocate a good budget towards paid media to boost the most popular content. Lastly, I believe it is important to engage in the community. Ways to do this include responding to customer DMs, reposting customer stories, and replying to comments.

How do you adapt your social media strategy to target different demographics or international audiences?

I adapt everything from the type of platform I use to the hashtags I put in the captions depending on different demographics that I am trying to capture attention from. I believe that the key to adapting social strategies is research and analytics!

Can you describe your process for developing a social media content calendar?

First, I like to add important dates and milestones in my calendar, and work around those. Then, I like to look at analytics and see what days/times are most optimal for the account I'm working on, and schedule content to be uploaded on those days. Lastly, I like to get input from other coworkers to see if I am missing any other important content filming or uploading opportunities. Then, I like to do a final run through of a month's calendar with the team I am working with prior the month start.
