PARADE
Campus Marketing Lead
Describe a time you took a leadership role in your community.
Last semester, I joined a sorority and was a little disappointed by the lack of march we had. I realized that other people in my pledge class felt the same way so I took the matter into my own hands and decided to place my own march order. I coordinated with a march website and created two different designs. I let our pledge class vote on which design them wanted and then collected sizes and payments from everyone. I received the order 2 days before the last day of school and made sure every hoodie was delivered to everyone who ordered one! I learned a lot through this project from learning that you cannot please everyone no matter how hard you try and to never be afraid to try something new. I definitely had a few setbacks when some people didn't like the designs I offered, but as a leader, I listened to peoples comments and was able to slightly alter one design that everyone loved. I also learned that leadership involves being everyones cheerleaders, because while not everyone was into the march idea, I was able to convince the entire pledge class into getting a hoodie.

How would you launch a new app on a college campus?
If I would launch a new app, I would focus on creating knowledge and buzz around campus before the launch. After attending a smaller college, I realized the power of word of mouth. I would prioritize talking to different organizations and clubs around campus to first implement the idea of the app. I would make graphics and posts about the app that people could post and share to their own social media to increase the audience size. Depending on the app, I would spend time following people from that college because I have seen first hand how people talk to other people about a new follow request that they don't know.
