What's an app or product you've introduced to your friends or community that's been adopted? How did you do it? How did you communicate what was special about it?

Last year, I introduced Notion to my study group and later to my club hockey team. A lot of people were still juggling between Google Docs, random spreadsheets, and group chats, so organizing assignments, practice schedules, and notes often got messy. I created a shared Notion space with tabs for homework trackers, class notes, and a calendar for practices and events. To get people on board, I didn’t just tell them “this is better”, I showed them. I did a quick walk-through during one of our study sessions, showing how everything was in one place and how easy it was to customize. I also made it visually clean and tailored to what my group needed (like color-coded deadlines and a “resources” section for study guides). Within a week, everyone was adding to it and checking it daily, and we ended up relying on it as our central hub for the semester. The key was making it practical and relevant to their needs, then demonstrating the value instead of just explaining it.

What's something really hard that you've overcome in the past?

One of the hardest challenges I’ve faced was failing Calculus 1 my freshman year of college here at Syracuse University. It was a truly a wake up call, because I had never struggled with academics like that before. Instead of letting it discourage me, I retook the course, worked with tutors, and changed how I study. It pushed me to develop resilience, discipline, and confidence in handling setbacks. That experience taught me how to bounce back from failure and keep moving forward, which is something I carry with me in academics, athletics, and leadership roles today.

Have you gotten a group of people to participate in a trend before? It doesn't have to be super viral.

Yes, I have. As class president all four years of high school and now as fundraising chair and assistant captain of the Syracuse women’s club hockey team, I’ve often been the one to spark participation in new initiatives. For example, I organized themed spirit days and fundraising events that quickly caught on across my high school, students would share photos, dress up, and challenge their friends to join in. At Syracuse, I helped launch team-wide traditions and social media campaigns for our club hockey program, which boosted engagement and visibility on campus.

What I’ve learned is that the key isn’t just coming up with the idea, but presenting it in a way that feels fun, easy, and inclusive so people want to be part of it. I’m comfortable creating that type of energy and would bring the same approach to RoleCall by identifying the inside jokes, communities, and subcultures at Syracuse and turning them into moments people want to join and share.
