What are important considerations for you when reviewing a product?

Usability, impact, and design are the three most important factors to me in reviewing a product. I find usability incredible important as people are often quickly frustrated when the UX of a product makes it hard to get the hang of. The quickest way for someone to leave your app or product is for it to be hard or confusing to use and understand. I feel this is especially true for online products. The second facto is impact. The apps I open on a daily or multi-daily basis are apps that have significant impact on my actions and life. Tiktok consumes so much of my time and my peers because the content and format makes a significant impact in my awareness of news, media, and other trends. The final one is design which relates to the usability but also includes the appearance and aesthetic of a product. Design is incredibly important in the modern trend cycle which focuses so much on the visual appearance of products to signal individual identity.

Please talk about something you've done that demonstrates attention to detail.

This past year, as Communications Manager, I helped a Philly-based non-profit re-vamp its website to be more accessible and youthful. The main issue I noticed and helped resolve was the website’s appearance on a mobile device. The non-profit's audience is young high school-aged people that access the website from the organization's Instagram. I was also able to help fix multiple typos and brand color and language inconsistencies. Though some of these changes are small, the shifts increased the usability of the website and increased site traffic.
