what beauty brands do you love on social and why?
1. Glossier
Glossier showcases minimalist products for the everywoman - meant to simplify routines and showcase natural beauty. Glossier's socials reflect their commitment to reminding consumers that "you look good" at every opportunity (pop-up shop mirrors, packaging, graphics). In addition, I love Glossier's socials because they showcase an inclusive range of models, cheerfully pastel colorgrading, and quick responses to questions and feedback in the comments of their posts. Glossier's social presence embodies the desire for positivity and self-acceptance that consumers crave and their brand ethos and aesthetics largely contribute to why I love them as a brand.
2. Milk Makeup
Milk Makeup's socials are littered with consumer try-ons and demonstrations of product. I love watching people play around with products and it makes me feel like part of a community rather than a consumer of a faceless brand. Secondly, Milk Makeup really takes every opportunity to promote inclusion on their socials. With every creator or customer feature on their pages, they include their pronouns to promote inclusivity and respect to the people in the Milk Makeup community. I love to see a brand that is focused on creating space for everyone and treating consumers with the respect they desire and deserve.
3. Starface
As a pimple patch brand, Starface uniquely showcases the stylishness, versatility, and aesthetic power of their product through socials. I love Starface because it has a clear direction. An immediate sense of joy is felt while scrolling through their page and each time a new post pops up on my feed. Undoubtedly you will find a photo of a smiling, star-eyed face staring back at you in every (or every other) post. The cuteness of the star smiley and disruptive yellow makes me take pause while scrolling and brightens my day. I also believe Starface is incredibly adept at demonstrating how stylish their unique star-shaped pimple patches are; showing consumers wearing them while getting ready, with their friends, or out and about. In many ways, I love that the brand is helping to destigmatize acne and make their consumers feel more confident wearing their product. Moreover, Starface advertises their donations to causes that their consumers care about, fostering a sense of community for the brand. Finally, the posts regularly use colloquial language that mirrors how audiences communicate on socials and regularly signs off posts referring to audiences as "friends," which genuinely inclines me to continue purchasing the product because I feel appreciated.
