I am in a club at my school called Carolina Women in Business and was selected to lead a committee for a project called "Jewels of Hope". This project was a fundraiser for the Orange County Rape Crisis Center. We reached out to local vendors to ask for jewelry donations. After gathering their generous donations, we organized multiple stands across campus to sell the jewelry to students. We successfully raised around $5,000 to be proudly donated. It felt rewarding to see all our hard work directly benefit such a meaningful cause. My leadership position helped keep everyone organized and motivated. I created a clear outreach plan, assigned tasks based on people's strengths, and maintained open communication to make sure everyone felt supported and excited about the project.

About a week ago, I was walking into Harris Teeter when I noticed an elderly woman struggling to carry her bags as she was leaving. I offered to help her carry them and walked her to her car. It was a small act of kindness, but she was incredibly grateful and told me it had made her day, which then made mine too.

One piece of feedback I’d give H\FC is to share more real student stories on social media. Ideas for this are behind-the-scenes of someone landing an internship or using your tips to grow their side hustle. The resources you offer are super helpful, but seeing them in action from people our age would make it feel more real and relatable, and probably inspire even more students to get involved.
