When I give feedback, I try to start with something positive so the person knows what’s working well. Then I point out one or two specific things that could be improved, and I suggest ways to fix them. I focus on the work, not the person, and try to keep my tone friendly and encouraging. I think it’s important to end with another positive note or reminder that they’re doing a good job overall.
