How do you shop sustainably today?

I absolutely love thrifting, especially on Depop! It allows me to buy and review clothing from brands I love while helping to minimize clothing waste. If I buy new items, I try to make sure they're sourced from slow fashion brands and that the clothing will last a while in my closet.

In one sentence, why are you so excited about the sports industry ?

Growing up, I was one of those kids who tried almost every sport - soccer, hockey, figure skating, ballet, gymnastics, and horseback riding, to name a few. Some stuck and others didn't, but watching professional athletes compete in the very same sports I was playing on television made me gain a deep sense of respect for the dedication that went into excelling in sports. Their wins became my wins, and I viewed their achievements as something to look up to. Overall, I would really value the opportunity to help these athletes reach their goals because of the personal connection I feel toward the sports industry as a whole.

What do you think should change with the current state of social media?

For one thing, I think that Instagram has strayed too far from being a user-friendly platform in its efforts to accommodate e-commerce. When it comes to social media marketing, subtlety is key - products should leave Instagram users with the impression that they fit into their own lifestyle, and not with the impression that they are being carelessly marketed to 100,000 other people. And even if a product is very obviously being advertised to an audience, the ad should clearly address the audience’s needs. Poorly worded product placement captions along the lines of “I love my [product name] vitamins! Try yours today” do not engage potential customers and only serve to further distance Instagram users from interacting with the application.
