Music Taste Tester (August)

Do you play or study music? if so, elaborate.
No, but music plays a huge role in my life. I've played different musical instruments throughout grade school. The flute, piano, and barely started to learn bass in high school. Music makes up such a huge part of my life and all genres, but there is a band, that has changed my life that ive been listening to since i was 7 years old ( I'm 36 now..), ive been seeing them play since i was 15 (2005), have had the amazing opportunity to meet them 3x, and have seen them live 50x....about to be 51 this September. Does it come across like I am bragging?? I am. Modest mouse. I could go on and on and on about them, what theyve done for me personally, what their music does to me and so many others, other amazing bands and music ive discovered because of Modest Mouse...

Can you discuss a time when you successfully promoted a product in a retail environment?
While I havent had an experice directly with traditional retail, i had a great experience promoting a fitness app through my college's wellness program. Our campus's health center wanted to increase student engagement with their new mental health and fitness resources, but students weren't aware of or using the app they had. So, I volunteered to help promote it during orientation week. The challenege was most students would walk right past our booth as i (we) tried to hand out fliers about this new app. I had to completely re-think my approach...instead of talking about the app's technical features, I started to ask other students about their biggest stress points. Then after hearing their concerns (finals, class schedules, etc.) I would then show them exactly how the app could address those issues. For example, someone mentioned struggling with anxiety before finals, so I'd pull up the 5-min. meditation feature and let them try it for themselves right there. Then I came up with a simple challenge where students could win small prizes by trying diff. features over a week and then sharing their experience. This would give them a reason to download the app. App downloads ended up increasing by 300%. The follow-up survey showed that students who engaged with me and the app had a much higher retention rate and were still using the app a month later.
