If you could redesign any everyday object (physical or digital), what would it be and how would you make it better?
As a student, my head goes directly to an interface like our course registration system (CAESAR). CAESAR, by far, has to be one of the most unintuitive systems I've ever used - yet we're using it constantly, jumping through hoops and troubleshooting to reach necessary goals. To make it better, I'd eliminate a lot of redundancy that's present in the interface that tends to mislead users and creates a false "natural mapping". Instead, by redesigning with more intention and understanding of the user's perspective - rather than the expertise of the designer/developer, I could work toward a much more user-friendly interface.
