My passion for advocacy work stems from the inequalities or misrepresentations I have witnessed in my own life. As an English major, I am constantly exposed to new authors that I should take interest in, but there is a real lack of accountability for authors of history that differ from a white male. While it is hard to get around this narrative, it is important to continue reading and writing about pieces written by people of all genders, races, and sexual orientations. Not only will this make the field more diverse, but it will also translate to daily life through the exposure of art that is more accessible for everyone.
