In my 12th grade ERWC class, I was tasked with writing a letter to a made-up philanthropist and aiding them in selecting the most appropriate illustration from various paintings to choose the best artwork to put up in a children’s hospital setting. I approached this assignment as if I was an art consultant and gave them pointers as to why artwork is more appropriate for a hospital setting than others. I paid attention to the use of colors, atmosphere, and emotional responses that the paintings might evoke, including the contrast between colors and composition and how they can impact the overall mood and atmosphere of the hospital setting.
