Hi! My name is Lindy and I am a marketing major in the Fisher College of Business from Cincinnati Ohio with a double minor in Spanish and International Relations. Last year, I attended a HFC talk facilitated by Margot Lee and ever since I have followed your brand and been inspired by your innovation and entrepreneurship. As a college student who has experienced many different changes in plans over the past couple of years, I truly have an appreciation for HFC's work. I am also extremely interested in hopefully becoming an entrepreneur one day or building my own brand of some sort. This past summer I interned at Abercrombie & Fitch's Global Home Office as a Merchandising Intern, and I continued that internship into this school year part-time. This internship was extremely fast-paced and required a lot of hard work, focus, and organization. My role required me to have my finger on the pulse at all times in the fashion industry and social media in order to catch the latest trends and stay up to date with consumers. The merchandising role at A&F is at the "center of the wheel", which allowed me to learn and catch a glimpse of all that it takes to keep a brand going forward because Merchants are responsible for the strategic decisions and growth of the brand. That being said, I definitely feel that the skills I applied in my role at A&F would translate well to this role at HFC. I would love to work with your brand to help grow your presence on college campuses and to provide a unique and fresh perspective. As I mentioned earlier, I also admire entrepreneurs and the hard work you guys have put in already to get this brand where it is today, so I know that this would be an amazing growing and learning experience for me as well. I am looking forward to getting in touch with you guys! Best, Lindy Behling

How would you launch a new app on a college campus?

Students are bombarded with clubs and organizations constantly. We don't necessarily want to be stopped on our way to class by some random person telling us to "come to our club meeting!" or "hey are you interested in x?" Therefore to launch a new app on a college campus, I would first choose what demographic of students to target. I would choose a few majors, (such as Architecture, Business, etc.) who I think would be most interested in the app and I would leave a card in their classroom with a QR code to take them to the app or website. That way, I am not bothering the students and allowing them a quick and easy way to get to the app on their own time. Next, we would need to increase brand exposure on campus. I think a great way to do this would be from posting creative flyers, posters, banners, and art around campus. One brand that I follow on social media is "We're Not Really Strangers" and they do an amazing job of promoting their brand through creative outdoor advertising that catches the eye. (Seriously if you don't know them they are super cool, but I think everyone knows them by now @werenotreallystrangers on insta). For the app we could make engaging, creative posters to hang around campus that would help for the app to gain recognition and attraction. These advertisements would of course be sure to prominently display the name of the app. My third idea, which is hosting a trivia night at a campus bar, would be a a great way to get to know students and get consumer engagement. College students don't want to attend some boring lecture about what your app does, so why not take them to a bar, give them some food and games, and then talk about it? To gain entry to the trivia night, students would have to prove they have downloaded the app. We could create a fun and engaging environment for students to interact and meet each other so that our app establishes a community on campus. One thing that I have learned over the years interacting and watching brands on social media is that the strongest brands have a sense of community among their consumers. (Another great brand who does this- @lonelyghost on social media). We could turn this trivia night into a series of events for app users on our college campus to attend. What doesn't sound fun about that? Those are some of my ideas, I hope you like them! I would love to hear what you guys would do to launch an app on a college campus :)
