Share a few of the most impactful traditions as it relates to March Madness on your campus?

Michigan State University has a deep-rooted basketball culture, and March Madness is one of the most exciting times on campus. Some of the most impactful traditions include:

The Izzone – One of the most passionate student sections in college basketball, the Izzone brings electric energy to every game, especially during the NCAA tournament. Students pack the Breslin Center for watch parties when MSU plays on the road.

Cedar Village Celebrations – After big tournament wins, students gather in East Lansing, particularly in Cedar Village, to celebrate MSU’s success. These gatherings have become legendary over the years.

March Madness Watch Parties – Local bars like Rick’s, Harper’s, and The Riv host massive game-day watch parties, packed with students repping green and white.

Sparty’s Tournament Hype – The MSU mascot, Sparty, plays a big role in hyping up fans, making special appearances at events, and rallying the campus leading up to big games.

Final Four Send-Offs & Pep Rallies – When MSU makes a deep tournament run, the campus hosts pep rallies, and students line up to send off the team in true Spartan fashion.

MSU's strong basketball legacy, led by Coach Tom Izzo, makes March Madness one of the most electric times of the year in East Lansing!

If Uber were to host an activation on campus during March Madness, what would be your best idea for the brand to uniquely engage students?

Uber Hoops Madness

"Ride & Shoot" Challenge – Students who show their Uber ride receipt (to or from campus) get a chance to shoot from different distances to win prizes like Uber credits, merch, or VIP access to a watch party.

"Uber Fast Break" Rides – Designate Uber pickup zones with a March Madness theme, offering discounted rides to popular game-day locations (bars, arenas, watch parties).

Social Media Contest – A branded photo booth with a half-court backdrop where students can snap pics, tag #UberHoopsMadness, and enter to win bigger prizes like free Uber rides for a month or a trip to the Final Four.
