Interview Questions
JOVA
Business Development Intern (Health Food Startup)

How do you usually keep track of tasks, follow-ups, or deadlines when things are moving fast?
As a university student balancing coursework, part-time roles, and extracurricular activities, staying organised is really important to me. When things get busy, I use tracking tools like Notion or Excel to keep everything structured. I typically break down each task into smaller steps, set clear deadlines, and allocate time for each task based on urgency and priority. For example, when organising events at the Centre for Entrepreneurship or managing responsibilities as a student ambassador, I relied on spreadsheets and shared calendars to keep track of guest speaker coordination, promotional timelines, and follow-ups. I also set reminders and use colour coding to visualise my workload across academic and extracurricular commitments. This system helps me stay on top of everything, even when things are moving fast, and ensures I don’t let anything fall through the cracks.

Tell us about a time you helped something run more smoothly, or solved a problem on your own.
During my time as a Student Workshop and Engagement Officer at the Centre for Entrepreneurship, I was responsible for helping organise the Enterprise Challenge and other workshops with over 60 participants each semester. To ensure everything ran smoothly, I managed communication across multiple parties including guest speakers, students, and university staff. I created a shared tracker on Microsoft Teams to keep schedules and materials aligned, and I double-checked all promotional content, invitations, and event details to avoid any errors. I also took the lead on coordinating venue setup and equipment. As a result, the events ran efficiently with minimal issues, and we exceeded participation targets by 20%, receiving positive feedback from both attendees and speakers.

What excites you about this role and working with JOVA?
What excites me most about this role is the chance to work closely with the founder and be involved in the day-to-day growth of an early-stage brand. I love building systems and keeping things organised, so the CRM and operations side of this internship appeals to me. It feels like the kind of role where I can make a difference, not just observe. Coming from a Business Management background, I’ve developed strong communication and organisational skills through my work as a student ambassador and during my marketing internship, where I worked on content planning and audience engagement. I’m self-motivated, love taking initiative, and this kind of fast-paced, hands-on environment sounds like the perfect place to learn and contribute at the same time, especially in a space like food and wellness that I’m genuinely interested in.
