I have to admit that I listen to a lot of sad songs. My favorite song is "I Care" by Beyoncé. The emotions in that song take me back to my first winter in college. The environment around me, chrome and frosted, like a mirror reflecting an off white shine. The feeling of walking to class, my footsteps matching the rhythm, and my breath following. No one is paying attention to me but me. Some might see this as a lonely feeling, and it was at times, but Beyoncé made me realize that the person whose opinion mattered the most was my own. If I cared about myself, I did not need others' two cents. I care to see myself follow through with life, not get stuck in the moments frozen in shame and fear.
