I would most likely try it for the first time at a moment where I am feeling drowsy, sluggish, or overall just tired to get the best idea of how the drink works for me personally. Then, I would write and in-depth review about how the drink changed my mood, energy levels, and motivation to do more things!

What specific aspects of a drink's taste do you consider when evaluating a new beverage?
I take the taste into heavy consideration of course, but I also want to take note of the way it makes me feel afterwards. Many energy drinks make me feel bloated and uncomfortable, so I want to make sure I look for that as well.
