How do you ensure your designs align with a gen z focused aesthetic?

To align my designs with a Gen Z-focused aesthetic, I prioritize authenticity, emotional resonance, and visual boldness. I stay current by regularly analyzing trending aesthetics across TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest, platforms where Gen Z culture thrives. I incorporate elements like vibrant color palettes, nostalgic or Y2K-inspired type, minimal yet punchy layouts, and playful, meme-adjacent humor when appropriate. But I don’t just follow trends blindly, I make sure every visual choice ties back to the brand’s message and evokes a feeling. Since Gen Z values personalization and emotional connection, I design with intention: whether that’s through storytelling graphics, relatable language, or motion and interaction that feels human, not corporate. Ultimately, I design for scroll-stopping impact, but also to make people pause, connect, and feel like, “this was made for me.”
