How do you approach creating engaging hooks in videos?

Honestly, the first two seconds are everything. If someone doesn't stop scrolling right away the rest of the video doesn't even matter. The way I think about hooks is pattern interrupt, relatability, and stakes. The visual needs to be unexpected enough to stop the thumb, the first line needs to sound like something the viewer is already thinking, or they need to feel like they'll miss out if they keep scrolling. For something student focused like Jenni AI I'd lead with pain points they already know. The 2am research spiral, the blank page, 47 tabs open and nothing written. A hook like 'I used to spend 3 hours just finding sources' lands before you even bring up the product. The hook is never really about the tool, it's about the feeling the tool fixes. I also always film multiple hook variations for the same video because what works for one person doesn't always work for another. Testing is just part of how I shoot.
