I think an important attribute to moderating is being able to connect with your community. Moderating is entirely centered around the existence of the community itself, so being engaging, interactive, and building a relationship with your community is incredibly important as a moderator. Waitressing for four years taught me skills like developing customer relations, being engaging to keep customers returning, and tending to my customers' needs.
