I like to keep things simple and straightforward. I'd rather send a quick update than leave someone wondering what's going on. I also pay attention to how each person likes to communicate and adjust to that. The goal is always that they feel taken care of before they even have to ask.

I figure out what actually needs to get done first versus what just feels urgent. I keep a simple list for each account so nothing falls through the cracks. I've learned from my own work that checking in early saves a lot of headaches.. and if someone has to come find you for an update, you're already behind.
