What strategies do you use to engage social media audiences?

engage social media audiences by balancing trend awareness with a clear personal style. I pay attention to what formats, sounds, and editing styles are working, but I try not to rely only on trends because I want my content to feel timeless and recognizable, not like a one-time hit. I also think authenticity matters most. People stay when they feel like there is a real person behind the content. My personality naturally helps with that — I tend to come across as humorous, witty, and a little dry, while still being able to be serious when needed. I think that mix makes content more engaging because it feels both entertaining and real.

How would you make a video that stands out on TikTok?

I would make the video stand out by tying it into my real daily life. This summer I’ll be in Taiwan for an internship, so instead of making a generic language app video, I’d frame it as part of my experience living there as a foreigner who only started learning Chinese in college. I could show small moments from my daily life — ordering food, getting around, reading signs, or trying to speak more confidently — and then connect that back to using Airlearn to refresh my Chinese and keep learning. I think that would make the video more engaging because it shows a real reason for using the app and lets people follow an actual journey. It would feel more like a vlog mixed with language learning, which is more personal and more natural for TikTok than a simple review. Then I’d introduce the app as part of that process: something helping me build confidence in real life, not just something I downloaded.
