Explain how a P&L (Profit & Loss or Income Statement) shows the cash flow of a business.

The Income statement depicts revenue, costs of goods sold, operating expenses, selling expenses, taxes, interest payments, and depreciation. The top line of the income statement is revenue then COGS are subtracted to get Gross Profit. Operating expenses are then subtracted to get Operating profit (EBIT). Then finally, taxes and interest are subtracted to get Net Incomee. In a discussion of actual cash flows of a company it is important to recognize that not all income statement items are actual cash expenses. Depreciation must be added back to EBIT to reflect EBITDA - a better picture of a company's cash position as depreciation and amortization are noncash expenses. The bottom line of the income statement (net income) flows into the top line of the company's statement of cash flows, which tells the full story of a busines's cash position. The cash flow statement incorporates income statement and balance sheet items to represent how the company is spending its cash on hand.

Please describe the type of content you create and provide your handle. Thank you !

I create and curate aesthetically pleasing content for restaurants I visit in Boston and throughout my travels! I just started my food blog about two months ago and I am looking to invest more time and energy into content creation and graphic design. I review the food quality, vibe, and overall experience I have at the restaurants I visit and I love sharing my experiences with friends! Trying new food spots is my way of exploring any new place and I enjoy documenting everything on my blog and would love the opportunity to support content creation efforts on your new app. My food account handle is @jkhcuisine on Instagram and my personal handle is @jordynhaynes
