I'd create and enforce an update schedule and set up reminders prior to deadlines. I would also communicate with other team members if a delay was expected, to ensure that everyone was informed. In order to make sure all data updates were accurate, I would use checklists and multiple sets of eyes to ensure each data entry was correct.
