For me, an energy boost has more effect on what I am feeling and my productiveness. With enough energy, I feel less distracted and feel a little bit jittery in the aspect that my stamina is increased.

I evaluate the carbonation in comparison to the flavors. When I am considering drinks, I consider if they are tarts based or more savory.
