Subject Lines & Preview Text

- Preview text is free real estate; treat it as a subtitle, not a repeat of the subject. Personalization in the subject (name, company, past behavior) lifts open rates, but only when it feels relevant, not gimmicky.

Timing & Frequency- Test send times against your audience—industry benchmarks are starting points, not answers. Tuesday–Thursday mornings tend to perform, but behavior varies. Watch unsubscribe and complaint rates as closely as open rates. High frequency without high value burns lists fast.

content and design- A/B test one variable at a time (subject, CTA, send time) with statistically meaningful sample sizes. Track click-to-open rate (CTOR) alongside open rate—it isolates content performance from subject-line performance.
