Interview Questions
Flings
Social Media Content Strategist for Flings

How would you increase daily engagement on a brand’s Instagram and TikTok channels?
I would increase daily engagement by combining consistent short-form content with active community interaction. For Instagram and TikTok, I’d create daily Reels/TikToks around snack moments, taste reactions, student lifestyle content, gym/post-workout snacking, funny relatable cravings, and trending sounds that fit Flings’ fun personality. I’d also use Instagram Stories every day with polls, quizzes, questions, “this or that” snack prompts, and reposts of customer content. On TikTok, I’d focus on highly shareable videos that feel native to the platform rather than overly promotional. Beyond posting, I’d engage daily by replying to comments and DMs, asking questions in captions, encouraging UGC, and tracking which content drives the most comments, shares, saves, and watch time. The goal would be to turn Flings from just a snack brand into a fun, interactive community around better-for-you snacking.

What strategies do you use to grow a new social media account quickly?
When growing a new account, I focus on hyper-targeted short-form video content that speaks directly to a specific audience. I prioritize strong hooks that grab attention in the first 3 seconds, test different content formats, and post consistently to identify what resonates best. I also actively engage with the community by leaving thoughtful comments on larger accounts in the niche, responding to comments, and creating content that encourages sharing and conversation. Finally, I track performance and double down on the content styles that drive the most engagement and growth.

How would you create engaging hooks for local recommendation videos?
I would focus on curiosity, relatability, and specificity. Instead of saying "Here's a good restaurant," I'd use hooks like "The best hidden food spot in Boston that most people walk right past," or "I wish someone told me about this place sooner." I'd also test question-based hooks such as "Where do you take friends when they're visiting your city?" The goal is to make people stop scrolling by making the recommendation feel personal, useful, and worth sharing.
