Please share any relevant social media management experience and how you defined success in the role.

As I grew throughout my college years, I realized that commuting to school and doing the bare minimum to create relationships was not enough. I decided to search for a community that is welcoming to those who are new to the college life. I found my best friends and mentors at University of Nevada Las Vegas Filipinx American Student Association. I love being able to talk to others, share new ideas, or even represent an organization as a whole. I started out as a social media coordinator intern for this organization. I confidently grew my abilities in how to market our organization to new members, how to keep our retention rates up, and collaborated with other members who are in leadership positions. I found success when I realized I saw new faces become familiar ones. I found success when I was curious of what else can I do to help this organization do more than just be another Filipinx club. I also helped managed the social media account by curating new themes every week, polls for our followers to interact, “take-over” days for our leadership roles to vlog what it’s like being in their position, and many more. I successfully managed an amazing foundation for our social media coordinators and found the ebb & flow of our organization. Overall, I don’t define success as a ton of views or millions of followers but seeing it as a guide to build more relationships to further a broader community.
